Right Here, Right Now

Hanged

I love the sunlight coming through lush, mid-summer leaves, turning them from kelly green to luminescent. Shades of turqoise, green, leaves like soft fingers, sharing secrets in the breeze. The bright, candied red of my toenail polish. Sounds of windchimes, soft caress of the lazily swirling air. Birds chirping contentedly.

There is so much beauty in the world, so much left to see and do and experience. I don’t know how much of it I’ll get to see. I feel weighted by obligations and past mistakes. Heavy with emotion. Overwhelmed at the thought of catching up–so many experiences, so little blogging.

But I will do my best, and I will start right now. Right here.

Summer in Retrospect

At the height of summer the sun was rising when my alarm woke me at six, light spreading across the valley as I biked to work in shorts and a t-shirt. Then each morning grew a little darker, a little more chill, and I began wearing my hoodie again, shadows chasing me as I sped downhill.

September came, and you could feel Fall on the wind, like a thought whispered, a slight breeze past your ear. The promise of crisp, clean air and burnt colors and crunch. And I was ready.

Summer Ends

Last Sunday I went to a birthday picnic, in woodsy canyon area. A very summery event, indeed, complete with grilling, cocktails in mason jars, chips, dips, and coolers of ice. I wore a light summer dress, it was a good time.

Aaand…I’m ready for summer to be over. Come fall, come crisp air and flaming leaves and soft layers and new expectations.
